サーペンタイン渓谷は、アリススプリングスの西100kmにある西マクドネル山脈の狭い隙間です。
峡谷に沿って川の赤いガムの涼しい日陰を通り抜ける、または崖の上の展望台まで、一連の半永久的な滝壺の景色と険しいマクドネル山脈の地質を調査するために、多くのよくマークされた小道の1つをたどります。
乾燥時には、周辺地域の滝壺が干上がり、サーペンタイン渓谷の滝壺が広い地域に残っている唯一の滝壺になります。鳥は周辺の田園地帯から移動し、滝壺の端に静かに座っていると簡単に観察できます。
カーペットスネークドリーミングの場所、峡谷のいくつかの地域と西側の崖は、西部アランダ人の管理人にとって特別な意味を持っています。
サーペンタイン渓谷は、ララピンタトレイルのセクション7と8のトレイルヘッドでもあります。ララピンタトレイルは、西マクドネル山脈を通る231kmの長距離ウォーキングトレイルです。
アクセスは従来の二輪駆動車によるものですが、最後の数キロは荒れたアクセストラックであるため、雨天では交渉が難しい場合があります。この道路はバスやキャラバンには適していません。

If you’re a visitor to the NT, you need an NT Parks Visitor Pass to visit most national parks and reserves. The pass allows you to visit all parks and reserves managed by the NT Government within your valid dates.
