Darwin River Tavern is a pub, campground and roadhouse on the Stuart Highway, 45 minutes south of Darwin, a handy caravan-friendly stopover on the sealed route to Litchfield National Park.
It is an easy base for grey nomads, families and four-wheel drive travellers exploring the Top End.
The campground has powered and unpowered sites with plenty of room for big rigs, caravans, motorhomes and tents, plus drive-through sites, clean amenities, hot showers, laundry, a dump point and free Wi-Fi. Pets are welcome (please enquire when booking). Air-conditioned donga-style rooms suit solo travellers and couples, and late arrivals are welcome.
Everything is on site: a licensed tavern and bistro serving hearty meals and cold drinks, a bottle shop, supermarket, fuel and a post office agency, making it a genuine one-stop highway stop. Cool off in the tropical swimming pool, let the kids explore the playground and small pet zoo with buffalo, emus and goats, or unwind around the campfire.
Live music and community events run throughout the dry season. Whether you need a one-night stopover or a relaxed base to explore Litchfield's waterfalls, Darwin River Tavern offers a warm Territory welcome.
