这一季节性奇观发生在旱季末期，即“wurrkeng”和“kurrung”期间，此时洪泛区缩小，东鳄鱼河的淡水流量减缓。观赏这一世界级野生动物奇观的最佳时间是7月至11月，其中9月至雨季开始是高峰期。
